TWO-TIMES Speedway World Champion and current leader of the 2009 GP series, Jason Crump, has confirmed he will ride at Mark Lemon’s long awaited testimonial on Friday 18 September 2009.
The event, which will see Australia take on the Rest of the World in a team event, will take place at the Oak Tree Arena, Highbridge, Somerset.
Returning to the club where he spent his first season in the British Premier League in 2003, and then remaining in the West Country as an Exeter Falcon for the subsequent two seasons, Mark will feature in the all Australia side, who will battle it out against the Rest of the World in an effort to become one of the eight to make it through to the evening’s Grand Final.
Riders confirmed to take their place in the line up include; Australia’s Jason Crump and Steve Johnson, Slovenia’s Matej Zagar and British talent Tai Woffinden. Further riders to be announced in the near future.
On the evening, gates open with fun for all the family at 5.30pm with pre-race entertainment and a hog roast. The parade of riders will take place at 7.30pm, shortly before racing starts. Fans are urged not to rush away with all welcome to enjoy the post meeting celebrations in the club house following the meeting. Adult admission costs just £13.50, children go FREE. Fans purchasing tickets in advance can receive a VIP pit walk to meet the riders and obtain souvenir photographs.
Looking ahead to the meeting, Mark Lemon said: ‘This day has been long in the planning and I’m already looking forward to a meeting made up of top international riders. After riding in the UK for just under 20 years, I look forward to finally celebrating my British Speedway career on what promises to be a very fun and special evening’.
