I know that this has been covered partly on other threads but if ( and it's only if) we do go Premier League next season, who would everyone pay money to see in the side. I would prefer a young exciting team with a couple of experienced heads to lead the side. I think Mark Lemon deserves a team place as his commitment last year was excellent. He would make a great skipper and could be relied upon for a 9 point average home or away. Chris Neath is a good performer around Reading and has a lot of experience. Wizzer on a 5 point something average is well worth a shot. I'm not so sure about our new Dane Patrick as I haven't actually seen him ride, but I don't see him as a number one rider (yet). I can't speak for Andrew Appleton but I believe that he enjoys Long and Grass track and makes a very good living from that side of the sport. He was not treated very well by fans on this forum the last time that he rode for then Racers. I personally think that Andy has a lot to offer as a speedway rider and he is still not that old. Lee Complin and Kyle Lygault are other riders that are a pleasure to watch week in, week out. Ben Barker is a must, he will be a big star in a couple of years. It would be good to see Chris Mills back in a Racers jacket again. Same can be said for Chris Schramm. A Conference League team would be a good source of new talent providing 'old stagers' are not allowed to take places in the side, I've never seen the point of Seemond Stephens dropping down to that level when he was still a good Premier League rider. A few years ago, grasstrack was a breeding ground for speedway talent but this appears to have stopped. Maybe Malcolm can start 'scouting' in this area again, Swindon GrassTrack club used to run many meetings. Whatever is decided I am really glad to have a promotor who lives and breathes speedway, he is an ex Racer and cares about the club. He will make mistakes along the way ( don't we all) but it will be an interesting time for all concerned. Roll on March !!!
Or even Swindon ! Could have him on loan though. On the BSF there's a young Aussie name of Ty Proctor looking for a team place. He seems keen and has had some good results. Might be worth a punt, hopefully better than 'Brendan'!!! You never know he could be another Chris Holder !
swindon had shown intrest in both complin and sitera but then at the moment is all talk and gabble we will.. but i defently see these guys riding elite nxt season! seems by his website lee has said bye to stoke or maybe reading it the wrong way!??? seen this guy at the abbey a few times and he can ride it!!
We can only look on the bright side. If we do go Premier (and it looks likely) then we shall see loads of different teams and riders. We can also assemble a young exciting side who ALL really want to ride for the Racers, that would be novel ! Maybe I'm easliy pleased, but when I first started watching speedway I supported the Racers because they were my team and it was really good to see 'novice' riders develop into heat leaders and internationals, that's part of the fun of the lower leagues. If I wanted to see the 'superstars' I would go to Swindon and watch Briggo or Wimbledon to see Ronnie Moore. Best of both worlds ! Having said that I really enjoyed the Per Jonsson years!!
So long as the Reading Racers continue riding Ill be happy , ive always loved speedway at Reading from the age of 7 I was hooked and now at 47 I and my kids love going EL or PL speedway will be the winner.
Sitera is a young Czech who's supposed to be the next 'big thing'. He was at the Denny P meeting and was very impressive on the outside line. He's probably a bit too rich for Reading's taste and will probably go to Poole/Coventry/Peterborough/Swindon etc.
Saw Patrick Hougaard at the Denny Pyeatt memorial meeting and he looked pretty useful. Personally I think Mad Dog Mconnell should ride for us anyway what entertainment!!
i dont think u will get mad dog mcConnel for uss bcuz he is a bit old and he only does brighton, (which i go to every year), but it is wishfull thinkin tho aint it lol
