Looking forward to seeing lots of new and different Teams at Smallmead. With the ability to get promoted as well, it will not be long before we see Coventry, Swindon etc again.
It will be great to see many different teams next year this will be my team can anyone tell me what their averages will be in the premier league 1.MARK LEMON 2.PATRICK HOUGAARD 3.00 3.KRZYSZTOF BUCKOWSKI 4.CHRIS NEATH 8.16 5.URICH OSTRAGAARD 7.43 6.BEN BARKER 4.26 7.CHRIS MILLS 4.89
Lemon riding for us in the Premier -isnt that taking a step back i thought he said he wanted to go a bit further in the sport,Neath will ride for Rye House and I cannot see Millsy back either i would imagine he will stay at Kings Lyn.
According to reports in the Star etc. Lemo has said that he would like to return to Reading next year irrespective of which league we're in. Surely that must be a good starting point? As for Neath & Mills I suspect you could be right Andy, still theres always whizzer,Buck,Pat Hougaard etc.
I'm sure this is probably good news for the club. I've not been round long enough to have an "expert veiw" but I'm looking forward to seeing some different teams visiting next year.
Just one question though (and I don't know why this should pop into my head at this time) and that is will we still be using our air fence next year? Correct me if I'm wrong, but no other prem team uses one at the moment. Will we be setting the new standard????
Good luck Mark and Malc on building a winning team and roll on next March.

Surely we don't want to 'go backwards' where the safety of our riders is concerned. Keep the air fence please ! I think that Millsey is happy at KL and I would be amazed if Kryz would ride in the PL. There are still far more options open to the Racers in the PL. What average would M Dog be avaliable on ?
I am looking forward to the PL - greater variety of clubs visiting, hopefully still a local derby with Oxford if the GRA play ball with Trump, possibilty of a Conference league side with some up and coming juniors etc. Also pleased to see Malc talk about the importance or restabilising the club which I think has to be a number one priority. Howvever one big negative form the BSPA conference is the idea on promotion and relegation..... that will not help out need to stabilise and therefore I am very ambivalent towards winning the league; I rather we put our effort into the KO cup ( and what a terrible position to put your supporter in BSPA - no interest in winning the league!!) I am sure there are many other clubs who will be actively going out of their way to lose matches if at the back end of the season they are in with a shout for the title ( playoffs or not). Loads of resons why a team will not want to go up.... financial, rider resourcing, racenight, logistics, facilities etc What does everyone else make of the idea????

Good question. You'd like to think we'll keep it wouldn't you? Stoke have one, I think Somerset aswell. Sheffield don't. Machin refuses to believe they are a good thing!
Personally I am not happy we are in the Premier League, I would much prefer seeing world class riders every week. Although in saying that, with the points average for next year there might not be that many in the elite! Plus the promotion/relegation is something of a saving grace I guess
The correct decision which should guarantee we have speedway in 2009. I'm looking forward to seeing, hopefully, more competitive racing from a variety of different teams.
What are the exact rules of the game, the BSPA site is down at the moment? 41.5 without bonus Any reduction for UK riders? Who can list our PL assets? Wasn't Wolfman our asset although I can't see that he was riding for anyone in 2007?
Not sure the promotion idea is a good one. Can a club financially afford to make the jump up for obvious reasons. I suppose we will have to wait and see. I hope this idea does not end up breaking a promotion and a club going down the pan. ----------------------------------------

Reading Racers as it always should have been.
If the name was NOT important the new Owners would NOT have changed it back. ----------------------------------

Speedway is not alone in the promotion problem stakes. In football, if a non league side are champions and have a stadium that does not conform to Football League standards then they don't go up. I would hope that if the PL champs did not wish to step up, then the BSPA would allow the next best placed team the option. Not so sure about the relegation side though as we could have a massive PL and a tiny EL !!
Good move Malc. It will be great to see some different clubs and different riders. Variety is the spice and all that. It was good to see Mad Dog adding a comment to an earlier thread. I for one think he would be a good signing. He had the riding style I remember from the 70's & 80s. Roll on March and some interesting Speedway.
you better look forward to a real ass whupping at redcar (\__/) (='.'=)Help bunny take over the world by copy and (")_(")pasting this into your signature
